In February 2020, N-CHROMA received the EU SME instrument Phase 1 grant, supported by the Horizon 2020 program. The project was separated in two parts: Technological Feasibility and Legislative Road mapping. The main objectives for the technology development included: Optimization of the current production system and upscaling of fermentation. In 2017 N-CHROMA was awarded the NWO Take-off phase 1 grant to perform a feasibility study for its colour portfolio. The grant was destined to assess the market potential of N-CHROMA’s technological approaches but also to assess the feasibility of the technology in a bigger scale. N-CHROMA established its technology and defined clearly that the Food and beverage industry is anxious to test the colours produced by N-CHROMA.

On the 25th and 26th of May, 2016, we pitched our business idea at the prestigious event F&A Next @Wageningen University and Research Center, Netherlands. We competed against 9 other early stage startups and we managed to receive the 1st place.
